Honest Maids does post construction cleaning in Tarzana, the pass that comes once the contractor has packed up and the drywall dust has settled over everything. We are a family owned company based in nearby Reseda, and we reach Tarzana easily on both sides of Ventura Boulevard, from the larger homes climbing south toward Mulholland to the flatter streets and apartments north of the boulevard near Reseda Boulevard, Lindley Avenue, and Mecca Avenue. When a homeowner has just finished a kitchen or a contractor has handed over a new build off Wells Drive, the space is technically done and nowhere near ready to live in, and that gap is what we close.

What sits on every surface after construction is not ordinary grime, it is fine sanding and drywall dust that has drifted into cabinets and drawers, settled inside vents and window tracks, coated light fixtures and blinds, and worked its way onto ledges you would never think to check. It cannot be wiped away in a single sweep because the moment you disturb it, it lifts and resettles. We plan for that, we protect the new finishes while we work, and we take a room from a finished job site to a clean space you can actually move into. Text or call (818) 414-8012 for a free estimate.

How it works

From a finished job site to a move in ready home

Tell us about the project

Let us know what was done, a single room or a whole home remodel or a new build, roughly the square footage, and whether the contractor is fully finished or still has a few items left. The estimate is free and comes back the same day.

We plan the passes

We agree on the scope, plan for more than one pass since dust resettles, and settle access, whether that is a gate up in the hills, a permit space, or a unit north of Ventura Boulevard.

We clear and protect

Our own trained crew works top to bottom, dust first and floors last, lifting stickers, paint specks, and adhesive residue while protecting the new finishes underneath.

We return if dust resettles

Fine dust can surface again a day or two after the first visit. If it does, one text brings us back so the space ends up genuinely move in ready.

Tarzana questions

Post construction cleaning in Tarzana, answered

Why does construction dust need more than one pass?
Drywall and sanding dust is extremely fine and it does not stay put. As soon as you wipe a surface or vacuum a floor, some of it lifts back into the air and settles again over the next hour or the next day. A single pass gets a room looking clean, but the dust that was hanging in the air comes down afterward. That is why a proper post construction clean is planned around at least a second pass, and why we tell you upfront when a job will take more than one visit.
How is this different from a normal deep clean?
A deep clean tackles built up grime in a home people already live in, the oven, the grout, the buildup behind furniture. Post construction cleaning is a different problem entirely. There is no old grime, there is fresh building dust and debris on every surface, plus stickers, paint specks, and adhesive from the work itself. The tools, the order of operations, and the number of passes are all different. If you describe the project, we will tell you honestly which one you actually need.
How soon after the contractor finishes should we book?
Wait until the construction work itself is genuinely done, including any final sanding, touch up paint, or fixture installs, because each of those throws off more dust. Once the crew has cleared out for good, that is the moment to bring us in. Booking too early means dust settles again after we leave from work that was still ongoing. Text us the date the contractor expects to finish and we will plan around it.
How do you protect new floors and finishes?
Carefully, and with the fact that everything is new front of mind. New hardwood, tile, and vinyl can be scratched by grit dragged across them, so we lift dust rather than grind it in, and we clean floors last. On fresh paint, new glass, and new countertops we use methods and products that will not scratch, dull, or mark the surface. If a finish is delicate or still curing, tell us and we adjust.
Can you get the dust out of vents and inside cabinets?
Yes, and those are exactly the places a quick cleanup misses. Fine dust drifts into heating and cooling vents, settles inside new cabinets and drawers, and coats closet shelving. We clear it from all of them rather than just wiping the surfaces you see at eye level. Leaving it in the vents means it blows back out the first time the system runs, so it has to come out as part of the job.
Do you remove stickers, paint specks, and adhesive residue?
Yes. New windows, appliances, and fixtures usually arrive with manufacturer stickers and protective film, and construction leaves paint specks, overspray, and adhesive from tape behind. We take those off as part of the clean, using methods that lift residue without scratching new glass or marking fresh paint. Grout haze and caulk smudges around new tile come off too.
Is post construction cleaning one visit or several?
It depends on the size and how much dust the work generated. A single remodeled bathroom might be one thorough visit with a light touch up. A whole home remodel or a new build almost always wants more than one pass, because there is simply more surface for dust to keep resettling on. We give you an honest read when we quote the job, rather than promising one visit and then finding it needs two.
Can you coordinate with our contractor?
Yes. Plenty of our post construction jobs come from homeowners, but contractors book us directly too, to hand over a finished space rather than one still full of dust. We can time the clean to when your crew signs off, work around any final punch list items, and come back for a second pass once everything is truly done. Give us the contact and the schedule and we will fit in.
Does it matter whether it is a whole home remodel or a single room?
It changes the plan. A single room can often be sealed off in your mind but dust still travels, so we check the adjoining spaces too. A whole home remodel or a gut renovation means dust has reached every room, the vents have circulated it, and the scope is much larger, which usually means multiple passes over more than one day. Tell us the extent of the project and we scope it accordingly.
Do you handle both remodels and brand new builds in Tarzana?
Yes. Tarzana has a real mix, the larger higher end homes south of Ventura Boulevard toward the hills that get gutted and rebuilt, and the more modest houses and apartments north of the boulevard that get kitchens, bathrooms, and additions redone. Whether it is a full new build or a single updated room, the underlying job is the same, clearing fine construction dust and debris until the space is move in ready.
Do you bring your own supplies and equipment?
Yes, everything comes with us, the vacuums, cloths, and the right products for lifting fine dust and construction residue without harming new finishes. You do not need to supply anything or have anything set up. If there is a particular surface in the project that needs a specific product, tell us in advance and we will bring it.
Who actually does the work?
Our own trained crew, never subcontractors. The same company you book is the company that shows up, which matters when people are moving through a home that is nearly finished and full of new, easily marked surfaces. We are family owned and based in Reseda, a short drive from Tarzana.
What are your hours and how do we book?
We work Monday to Saturday, 8am to 6pm. Call or text (818) 414-8012, or email honestmaidsla@gmail.com. Tell us what the project was, how large the space is, and when the contractor finishes, we give you a free estimate, and we set a date. No card is needed to book.
What if dust resettles after you leave?
That is the nature of construction dust, and it is why the satisfaction guarantee matters here more than almost anywhere. If fine dust surfaces again after our first visit, tell us and we come back to clear it. A text to (818) 414-8012 is the fastest way to reach us.
How much does post construction cleaning in Tarzana cost?

The honest answer is that the price depends on the size of the home, the number of bathrooms, whether this is a first visit or a regular one, and how the home has been used up to now. That is why every job starts with a free written estimate rather than a flat rate lifted off a website. Text or call (818) 414-8012 with the number of bedrooms and bathrooms and roughly what you need, and we send a real figure back, usually the same day. Every price is agreed before we start, nothing lands on you at the end, and no card is needed to hold the slot.

Are your cleaners insured, bonded, and background checked?

Yes. Honest Maids is a licensed and insured family owned company based in Reseda, and every cleaner on our team is our own employee, screened and trained by us before their first visit. Nothing is subcontracted, so the person who arrives at your door in Tarzana is on our payroll, in our uniform, and covered by our insurance. We are happy to share our license and insurance details before your first clean if you want to see them, and many building managers ask for a certificate of insurance on file.

What products do you use, and are they safe for pets and children?

We bring every supply and machine with us for every visit, so nothing has to be set out. Our standard kit uses products that are safe around pets and children, and where a surface calls for a stronger product (such as a heavily soiled oven or serious mineral buildup) we tell you first and use the mildest option that will do the job. If you prefer a specific brand, a fragrance free product, or a completely green line, tell us in the booking and we will use what you have. The choice is yours.

How far in advance should I book, and can you come the same day?

For a regular clean in Tarzana we can usually reach you the same week, and a small job can sometimes fit into the same day. Move outs and post construction jobs need a little more lead time because they run longer, so book those a few days out when you can. The fastest way to check availability is a text. We are staffed Monday to Saturday, eight in the morning to six in the evening, and a message outside those hours is answered the next working morning.

What forms of payment do you accept, and when do I pay?

You pay after the clean is complete, once you have walked the home and everything is right. We take card, bank transfer, Zelle, cash, or check, whichever is easiest. Recurring customers are usually set up on a saved card that runs automatically after each visit, but that is optional and there is no card on file for a first visit. If you ever have a question about a charge, one text and we sort it out that day.

What is your satisfaction guarantee, and how does it work?

Every visit carries a plain guarantee: if something is not right, tell us within seven days and we come back to fix it, at no charge. We do not ask you to argue for it or fill out a form. We would rather return and put it right than leave a customer in Tarzana feeling like they paid for something they did not get. That is one of the reasons regular customers stay with us, and it is the standard the reviews are talking about.

Do I need to be home during the clean?

Only if you want to be. Many customers in Tarzana give us access through a code, a key with a neighbor, a lockbox, or a building doorman, and come home to a finished house. Others prefer to stay. Either way is fine, and we walk the space with you or send a note with a few photos before we leave, so nothing is a surprise. If the building has parking rules or a call box, tell us in the booking and we handle it from there.

How many passes does a post construction clean take, and why?

Post construction cleaning is scoped as a rough pass and a final detail pass at minimum, because construction dust is much finer than household dust and stays suspended for days after work stops. A single wipe redeposits about half of what it lifts. The rough pass removes bulk debris and heavy dust. The final pass, run after the dust settles, wipes every surface again, including behind fixtures, inside cabinets, windows, tracks, grout, and vents. Heavy jobs sometimes need a third pass, and we scope that on the written estimate.

Do you haul away construction debris?

We remove bagged trash, packaging, protective coverings, and light construction leftovers as part of the clean. Large debris (broken drywall sections, pallets, tile offcuts, appliances) is not part of a standard scope, but we can arrange a debris haul at cost if you tell us in the booking. That way one team handles the site, and the property is truly ready to hand over.

When is it safe for a family to move back into a home after a remodel?

Once the final detail pass is complete and the air has cleared. That usually means the day after the last pass for a room level remodel, and a day or two after for a whole home remodel with heavy dust. If anyone in the household has respiratory sensitivities, we recommend running the HVAC on a fresh filter for a day before move in, and we can add a vent and filter clean to the scope so the system is not blowing residual dust.

As many passes as the job needs

Why does post construction cleaning need more than one pass?

Post construction cleaning takes more than one pass because construction dust is far finer than household dust and stays suspended in the air for days after trade work ends. A single wipe redeposits about half of what it lifts, so the site needs a sequence: rough clean, allow the air to settle, then a final detail pass.

Pass one, the rough clean, removes:

  • Bulk debris, construction materials, packaging, and stickers
  • Heavy dust from every horizontal surface, floors first, then work down from ceilings
  • Protective coverings from fixtures, windows, and appliances

Pass two, the final detail pass, done after the dust has settled overnight:

  • Every surface wiped again, including behind and under fixtures
  • Windows and glass polished, tracks and frames cleaned
  • Inside every cabinet, drawer, and closet
  • Grout, tile edges, baseboards, and vent covers
  • Final vacuum and mop, moving from the far corner out

Heavy jobs (whole home remodel, tile cutting on site, drywall texture spray) sometimes need a third pass; we scope that on the estimate before any work is booked.

Why construction dust takes more than one pass Four stages of the same room. Stage one, straight after the work: debris on the floor and a heavy layer of dust on every surface. Stage two, the first pass: the debris is gone and the surfaces are wiped, so the room looks finished, but the fine dust is still hanging in the air where it cannot be wiped. Stage three, some hours later: that airborne dust has settled back down onto the surfaces that were just cleaned, so the room is dirty again without anyone touching it. Stage four, the later passes: the settled layer comes off, the places dust hides are worked, meaning vents, tracks, the tops of doors and inside cabinets, and a final detail pass takes off adhesive residue, paint specks and sticker glue. The point is that a single pass cannot work, because the dust that ruins it has not landed yet when the first pass happens. Why construction dust takes more than one pass The dust that ruins it has not landed yet when you first clean. Honest Maids AFTER THE WORK Debris, and dust on every surface. PASS 1, LOOKS DONE Surfaces wiped. The fine dust is still in the air. HOURS IT LANDS AGAIN The same surfaces are dirty. Nobody touched them. PASS 2 AND 3 Taken off again, then detailed. WHERE THE LATER PASSES GO Vents and returns, window tracks, the tops of doors, inside cabinets and drawers, light fixtures, then adhesive residue, paint specks and sticker glue off new fixtures and glass. WHY ONE PASS CANNOT WORK Not because the first pass was done badly. Because the dust that ruins it had not landed yet.
Construction dust is finer than household dust and stays airborne for hours, so it settles back onto everything already wiped. The number of passes a job needs is set by the work that was done, not by the size of the room.
