A deep clean is a complete reset of a home, reaching the buildup that regular cleaning never touches. Where a standard visit maintains the surfaces you see every day, a deep clean goes into the oven and refrigerator, along baseboards and door frames, into grout, inside cabinets and drawers, across light fixtures and ceiling fans, and behind furniture that can be moved safely.

Most homes need a deep clean in one of four situations. The home has not had professional cleaning in a long time. Something important is coming, such as guests, a holiday, or a listing. A season has turned and the house is carrying the dust of the last one. Or the property is changing hands, in which case move out cleaning is the closer fit.

What is included

What a deep clean covers

Everything in a standard clean is included, and then the parts that build up over months rather than days. In the kitchen that means inside the oven including the racks and the broiler, inside and underneath the refrigerator where it can be reached, the range hood and filter, inside cabinets and drawers, the backsplash and grout, the exteriors of small appliances, and the sink, faucet, and drain surround.

Bathrooms get the shower and tub scrubbed, grout and door tracks included, the toilet cleaned at the base and behind it, the inside of the vanity and drawers, the exhaust fan cover, and every mirror and fixture. Through the rest of the home we work the baseboards, door frames, and the tops of doors, light fixtures and ceiling fans, switch plates and outlet covers, vents and returns, window sills, tracks, and interior glass, closet shelves and rods, and behind and underneath any furniture that moves safely.

Floors are finished last. They are vacuumed to the edges rather than the middle, hard floors are mopped, and the corners and the marks left where furniture stood are dealt with rather than worked around.

How a deep clean is different

The difference is reach, not effort. A standard clean is horizontal. It covers the surfaces a household touches daily, and it keeps a home that is already in good order that way. A deep clean is vertical. Work starts at the ceiling fans and finishes at the baseboards, and it gets inside the things that stay closed.

Greater reach also means considerably more time, often two to three times as long as a standard visit of the same property, and that time is the honest reason a deep clean costs more. Three things set the price: the size of the home, how long it has been since the last professional clean, and whether any area needs unusual attention. A small apartment sits at the lower end. A large home that has gone years without one sits at the higher end, because the work is genuinely greater.

Once a home has had a deep clean, holding it is easier. A house that has never had one usually needs a deep clean first, after which a standard visit on a regular schedule is enough to keep it there.

What does a deep clean include that a regular clean does not?

Do you bring your own supplies?
Yes, all supplies and equipment, professional grade. If you need hypoallergenic or green products because of allergies, children, or pets, tell us in advance and we will use them.
Do I need to be home during a deep clean?
No. Many clients leave entry instructions and return to a finished home. If you would rather be there, that is equally fine.
Can a deep clean be done in one visit?
Almost always. Very large homes, or ones that need unusual attention, are occasionally split across two visits, which we agree with you in advance rather than discovering on the day.
Does a deep clean include windows?
Interior glass, sills, and tracks, yes. Exterior window washing is not part of the service.
Does a deep clean include carpet shampooing?
No. Carpets are vacuumed thoroughly, edges included, but wet extraction and shampooing are a separate trade.
Should I book a deep clean or a move out clean?
If the property is changing occupants, move out cleaning is the right fit, because it is built around what a landlord or property manager inspects. In every other situation a deep clean is the right choice.
