Woodland Hills sits at the southwest corner of the San Fernando Valley, where the flat grid finally runs out and the streets start climbing toward Mulholland Drive and the Santa Monica Mountains. Two things make this end of the Valley its own kind of cleaning work. Summer also runs hotter and drier here than it does on the coastal side of the hills, which means air conditioning works for months on end and pulls a fine grit through vents, blinds, and the tops of door frames.
