House cleaning is the regular, professional upkeep of a home, covering kitchens, bathrooms, bedrooms, and living areas on a schedule that suits how you live. Honest Maids is a family owned team, and every cleaner is screened and trained before entering a home. We bring our own professional grade supplies and equipment, so nothing is required from you on the day.

Most households choose one of three things. Recurring cleaning keeps a home that is already in good shape that way. Deep cleaning resets a home that has not had professional attention in a while. Move in and move out cleaning prepares a property that is changing hands. This page explains what each involves and how to choose between them.

What is included

What a standard clean covers

A standard clean is the regular maintenance that keeps a home fresh. It covers kitchen counters, the sink, and the stovetop, the bathrooms including sinks, toilets, showers, and mirrors, dusting of all reachable surfaces, vacuuming and mopping of floors, beds made and rooms tidied, and trash emptied. A deep clean covers all of that and then reaches the parts that build up over months, inside the oven and refrigerator, along baseboards and door frames, into grout, inside cabinets, across light fixtures and ceiling fans, and behind furniture that can be moved safely.

How often a home needs cleaning, and what decides it A horizontal scale running from less traffic through the home on the left to more traffic on the right, drawn with dots that grow denser toward the right. Three positions are marked along it. Monthly sits at the left, for a home that is already well kept where you simply want the heavy work taken off your hands. Every other week sits in the middle and is marked as the common middle for most households, the schedule that keeps upkeep from getting ahead of you. Weekly sits at the right, for homes with pets, children, or two adults working, where the home takes traffic every day. Below the scale, two panels list what moves a home along it. What pushes a home toward more often: pets in the home, children at home, allergies in the household, two or more adults working, a home that hosts often, and nobody having time midweek. What allows less often: one or two adults who are out most of the day, no pets, and a home already well kept. A closing note says that a home which has never had a professional clean usually starts with one deep clean and then holds that level on a schedule. The point of the drawing is that frequency follows how much traffic a home takes rather than how big it is. How often a home actually needs cleaning Frequency follows the traffic a home takes, not the size of it. Honest Maids Less traffic through the home More traffic through the home MONTHLY A home that is already well kept. You want the heavy work taken off your hands. EVERY OTHER WEEK The common middle for most households. Upkeep does not get ahead of you. WEEKLY Pets, children, or two adults working. The home takes traffic every day. WHAT PUSHES A HOME TOWARD MORE OFTEN Pets in the home Children at home Allergies in the household Two or more adults working A home that hosts often Nobody has time midweek WHAT ALLOWS LESS OFTEN One or two adults, out most of the day No pets A home already well kept WHERE A HOME USUALLY STARTS A home that has never had a professional clean usually starts with one deep clean, and then holds that level on a schedule. Held that way, the deep clean does not need repeating.
Frequency follows how much traffic a home takes, not how many rooms it has. Two homes of the same size can need very different schedules, so we set the schedule around the household rather than the floor plan.

Good to know

House cleaning questions, answered

What is the difference between a standard clean and a deep clean?
A standard clean maintains a home that is already in good shape, covering the surfaces a household uses every day. A deep clean resets a home, reaching inside appliances, along baseboards, into grout, and behind furniture. A home that has never had a professional clean usually needs a deep clean first, after which a standard visit is enough to hold it.
When should I book a move out clean instead of a house cleaning?
House cleaning keeps a home you live in comfortable week to week. A move out clean prepares a property that is changing hands, and it is built around what a landlord, property manager, or buyer inspects, inside the oven and refrigerator, cabinets, grout, baseboards, and window tracks. If a deposit or a sale depends on the result, book the move out clean.
How often should a home be cleaned?
It follows how much traffic a home takes rather than its size. Homes with pets, children, or two working adults do well on a weekly or every other week visit. A well kept home that needs the heavier work taken off your hands often suits a monthly visit. One time cleans work well before an event, at a change of season, or around a move.
Do you bring your own cleaning supplies?
Yes. Our team arrives with all supplies and equipment, professional grade. If you need hypoallergenic or green products because of allergies, children, or pets, tell us in advance and we will accommodate it.
Do I need to be home during the cleaning?
No. Many clients give us entry instructions and return to a finished home with no disruption to their day. If you would rather be there, that is equally fine.
Are your cleaners your own employees?
Yes. Every member of the team is screened and trained before working in a home. We do not subcontract the work out.
How much does house cleaning cost?
Cost depends on the size of the home, the type of cleaning required, and how often you schedule. A standard clean for a small apartment sits at the lower end, while a larger home or a deep clean takes more time. We give a free quote before anything is booked, so the price is agreed in advance rather than estimated on the day.
How long does a house cleaning take?
Time follows the size of the home and the type of clean. A small apartment on a standard visit is the quickest, while a larger home, or any deep clean, takes considerably longer. We give a time estimate along with the free quote so you can plan the day around it.
What should I do before the cleaners arrive?
Very little. Clearing personal items and clutter off counters, tables, and floors lets our team reach more of the home in the booked time. Everything else is ours to handle.
What if I am not happy with the service?
Tell us and we will make it right. Every visit carries a satisfaction guarantee, and the fastest way to reach us is a text.
