Your First House Cleaning: What to Expect and How to Get Ready

4.8 from 52 Google reviews

On a first visit the team arrives with every supply, works through the home room by room, and walks it with you before you pay. All you need to do beforehand is clear counters and floors, put valuables away, and tell us about pets, products, and how we get in.

Before the visit: the price comes first

You text or call with the size of the home, the number of bathrooms, and the kind of clean you have in mind. We send back a price and a time estimate before anything is booked, and no card is needed to hold the date. If there is a gate code, a parking note, or one part of the house you want extra attention on, that is the moment to mention it.

Tell us too if anyone in the home has allergies, or if you want green or hypoallergenic products. We bring our own professional grade supplies, and we are happy to use your own product on a surface you care about.

The night before: ten minutes that help

A cleaning goes further when surfaces are clear, because the team spends the booked time cleaning instead of moving things around. That is the whole prep list.

  • Clear counters, tables, and floors of mail, toys, laundry, and dishes.
  • Put away valuables: cash, jewelry, medication, and anything fragile or sentimental. We do not move or handle cash, firearms, or very fragile valuables.
  • Plan for pets. Let us know who lives there, whether they stay in a room or a crate, and anything they are nervous about.
  • Flag what matters most. If the oven, the shower glass, or one room is the reason you booked, say so and it goes first.

You do not need to buy or set out anything. Supplies and equipment come with us.

Do you need to be home?

No. You can let us in and head out, or send entry instructions ahead of time and come back to a finished home. If you would rather stay, that is fine too. Either way, we walk the home with you or leave you a note before we go.

What happens on the day

The team arrives at the agreed time with everything needed and works through the home room by room. A standard clean covers:

  • Kitchen: counters, sink, stovetop, and the outside of the appliances.
  • Bathrooms: tub, shower, toilet, sink, and mirror.
  • Dusting of reachable surfaces and horizontal edges.
  • Floors and trash: carpets vacuumed, hard floors mopped, trash emptied.

A first visit usually takes longer than the visits after it. The team is learning the home, and whatever has built up since the last professional clean takes extra time to bring back. If the home has gone more than two months without one, we will suggest starting with a deep clean, and we say that before you book, not on the day.

What is not part of a house cleaning

A few jobs belong to other trades, and it is better to know before the visit than during it. We do not shampoo carpets, wash exterior windows, or clean ceilings above eight feet unless that is arranged first. We do not take on hazardous material, mold, or biohazard cleanup, or heavy pest control.

Not sure whether something counts? Text us and ask before the day.

The walkthrough, and paying

When the team is done, you walk the home with them, or look it over when you get back. Payment is due once the cleaning is finished and you have seen it. Card, bank transfer, Zelle, cash, and check all work, and there is no saved card on a first visit unless you ask for one.

If something is not right, tell us. Every visit carries a satisfaction guarantee, which means we come back and fix it.

After the first visit

If you book recurring cleaning, we keep the same cleaner on your home wherever the schedule allows, so the person who learned your home is the one who comes back. Weekly, every other week, and monthly all work. If you need to move or cancel a visit, tell us as early as you can. There is no cancellation fee.
